Courmayeur to Chamonix, France

Scorecard · is it worth it?
Worth the flight if the mountains match what you want.
The card
CCC is the Mont Blanc 100K that is allowed to be worth more than it demands. Demand is 4: Courmayeur to Champex to Chamonix, about 108 kilometers and 6,200 meters of climb, late August, the same cols and storms as the flagship, a long alpine day that becomes a night if you are honest about your pace. It is not 5 because it is not 174 kilometers and because the technicality is TMB-family trail, not a scramble. It is not a 3 because this is still a mountain 100K in three countries, not a lakeside loop with a World Series sticker.
Worth is 5 because the massif is the product, and you get a serious helping of it without buying the full circus of the 174. You still buy stones, an Index, a lottery, and Chamonix in August. That is in logistics and value. It is not a reason to score the weekend a 3. Destination, not icon: the icon in this valley is UTMB. CCC is the card for people who wanted the mountains more than the 46-hour identity. Organization confidence is high. The machine is the same machine.
The next date is not yet posted by the RD. OCC is the 60K. TDS is the harder long one, start earlier in the week. We score each. If you wanted quiet Alps, none of these three are quiet in race week. If you wanted the Dolomites, Lavaredo is the other worth-5 100K in this batch. If you wanted Chamonix without pretending you ran the 174, this is the honest 100K. Worth beating demand is the point of the card, not a brochure.
Who it is for
Runners who want the Mont Blanc massif as a 100K rather than a 174, and who will tolerate UTMB week to stand in Courmayeur at dawn.
Who should skip
Anyone who wanted the icon 174, or anyone who resents stones so much they will not look at the same mountains on a shorter line.

Supporting dimensions · organization confidence high
108 km, Courmayeur to Chamonix. A mountain 100K, not a shortened UTMB and not a 50K.
About 6,100 m of climb. Dense alpine climbing without the 174 km tax.
TMB-family trail, crowded on race week. Alpine, often runnable, occasionally steep.
Late August on the massif: storms, cold cols, heat in the valley. Same weather as the 174.
Grand Col Ferret and the usual TMB high points. Alpine, not Hardrock-thin.
Stones, Index, lottery, Chamonix week. Easier than UTMB only in distance.
A deep field in the same town as the final. Not the icon; still a destination start list.
The same professional machine as UTMB. Competent, commercial, high confidence.
Circuit tax for a 100K on the massif. Worth 5 is the place, not the stones.
Italy to France under Mont Blanc. This is why worth outruns demand.
