Worth the flight if the mountains match what you want.

The card

White River is the 50 miler we score as a destination because of the volcano, not because of the distance. Crystal Mountain, White River, Mount Rainier as the wall you run toward and away from. Demand is 3: fifty miles of PNW trail with real climbing is a hard day, and it is still a day. Heat can show up. Snow can linger. Neither one turns this into Ouray.

Worth is 4 because the weekend is the mountain. You do not need a 100-mile buckle to justify the flight if what you wanted was Rainier and a well-known course. Logistics are easy by our standards: a ski area, a classic, a community that has been putting this on for a long time. Organization confidence is medium.

This is not JFK. The surface is mountain trail. This is not Speedgoat. There is no UTMB overlay in the worth math. If you can only do one Washington race and you wanted a 100, look at Cascade Crest. If you wanted the view and a 50, this is the card.

Crystal Mountain is a ski area, which makes logistics easier than Gould or Lake City and easier than Easton at 100 miles. That ease is in the demand score. The volcano is in the worth score. We are not going to pretend a 50 miler with Rainier in it is a 5 on demand, and we are not going to skip it because it is not a 100. Destination is the honest tier. The 2027 date is not yet posted by Rainshadow. If the only Washington mountain ultra you will ever run is a 50 with a view, run this one. If you wanted the 100, Cascade Crest is the fire-year sibling, not a longer White River.
