Way Too Cool 50K starts and finishes at the Cool Fire Station near Cool, California, on a course that is 98 percent trail, much of it singletrack, and includes a stretch of the Western States Trail. The route climbs about 4,799 feet between 570 and 1,620 feet of elevation. NorCal Ultras caps the 50K at 500 entries, closing registration March 1, 2027 or whenever it fills. Five aid stations break up the course at miles 8, 13, 20.5, 26, and 30, with an 8.5-hour cutoff from the 8:00am start. Crew and drop bags are allowed only at the Fire Station and the finish, and pacers are not permitted. Recent fields have run around 250 to 260 finishers.
