Conflicts logged in FACT-CHECK. The 2027 race page states 3750 M+ of gain while its own course prose mentions about 13,000 feet, and the local race JSON stores vert_m 3962. Those are not the same number. The plan prints the RD page figure and names the disagreement. The 2026 aid chart puts the finish at 61.6 miles while the race JSON's 100 km converts to about 62.14 miles. The weekend sidecar race_date field remains 2026-04-25 for night-shade tooling. That field is not the 2027 race date.

1. Gate, scope, and effort language

Self-selection gate

Use this draft only if every statement is true:

  • I have an entry for Canyons 100K 2027, or I accept that training starts before registration certainty.
  • I finished a 50-mile, 100K, or honestly equivalent long trail effort in the last 12 months.
  • This is among my early 100K races. A first or second at this distance is fine. I am not treating this as a first ultramarathon.
  • I already train consistently and can sustain 8 to 12 hours most weeks, including one long weekend day.
  • I can train on long sustained climbs and long sustained descents, or I can travel to them.
  • My goal is to finish inside the 20-hour cutoff. I am not chasing a time, a podium, a Golden Ticket, or a Running Stones total.
  • I am not injured. I am not seeking medical, injury, rehabilitation, illness, medication, or supplement advice.
  • I understand this is one of three fixed, pre-written schedules. Nobody reviewed my history. It does not personalize itself. Coach review is still pending.
  • I will stop and seek an appropriate professional when pain, illness, unusual symptoms, or recovery problems make training questionable.

This is the wrong draft for a first ultramarathon, for a runner without the prerequisite finish, for an athlete returning from injury or surgery, for an elite or time-goal athlete, and for anyone who wants coaching feedback.

Scope and disclaimer

This is general fitness information organized around sourced race facts. It is not medical advice, physical therapy, nutrition counseling, coaching, a qualifier, a finish prediction, or a guarantee of safety or completion. Nobody monitors you. Talk to an appropriate licensed clinician before you train, and especially if you have a health condition, a pregnancy, a medication that affects fluid balance or temperature, or a recent injury.

Stop if. Stop and seek appropriate professional or urgent help for severe or worsening pain, chest pain, fainting, confusion, loss of coordination, unusual shortness of breath, persistent vomiting, or any other concerning symptom. That list is short and it is not complete. Stop if your gait changes on a descent. Stop if a pain gets sharper, more local, or worse across a session. Stop if you stop sweating, stop urinating, or cannot keep food down in the heat. Stop if you cannot find shade or water on a warm session. Organizer rules, event medical staff, current conditions, and your own judgment all outrank this draft.

Editorial-review hold: every duration, progression, down week, taper, descent block, warm-condition rehearsal, night session, and strength set below needs qualified endurance-coach and legal review before any sale or live TrainingPeaks listing.

Effort language

  • Easy: relaxed and conversational.
  • Steady: controlled. Short sentences stay available.
  • Strong uphill: purposeful but repeatable. Form stays controlled.
  • Long-run effort: easy enough to hike from the first climb. Never race the session.
  • Terrain: runnable singletrack, sustained canyon climb or hike, long controlled descent, or fire road.

This draft carries no pace targets, no heart-rate zones, and no finish prediction. A fixed schedule does not know your fitness.

The Tuesday canyon rehearsal is the point of the week. Canyons asks you to go down and come straight back up, repeatedly, and then still run Cal Street.
